No.2 High School of ECNU chosen to be ‘national high school training base of talents program’

Good news came on April 11 from the National Administrative Office of the Talents Program and Children and Youth Science Center of CAST that our school, No. 2 High School of ECNU was successfully chosen to be one of the ‘national high school training bases of the Talents Program’ authorized by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).

The selection of schools as the national training base of the Talents Program was launched in 2021. According to Notice on Carrying out the Construction of Talents Program Training Bases (KeXie Qingfa [2021] No. 48) and Overall Plan for the Construction of Talents Program Training Bases (Trial), the National Administrative Office of the Talents Program reviewed the construction units of training bases recommended at provincial level, and identified 39 colleges and universities including Peking University as the university discipline training base of the Talents Program, as well as 39 high schools, including the Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, as the high school training base for 2022-2024. Five high schools in Shanghai were selected at the same time.

The Talents Program is a reserve talents training program of scientific and technological innovation for high school students, jointly organized and implemented by China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, which started in 2013.  Since then, our school has taken an active part and selected batches of outstanding students for the program. In 2022, 19 students from our school were selected, the number of which ranked first among all high schools in Shanghai.

The students recommended by our school to participate in the Talents Program have their own research topics, and they usually complete the topics during the learning period of the program. This year, one of the three students from our school selected for the national team of the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is from the Talents Program.

Our school hopes that those chosen for the Talents Program will continue to study hard, live up to youth and pursue excellence!
