Recently, three students from our school, No. 2 High School of East China Normal University (ECNU) received accolades at the 2024 Shanghai Popular Science Education Innovation Award. Ying Shixuan from Class 7 Grade 12 won first prize while Sun Tianchen from Class 7 Grade 11 and Meng Fanna from Class 9 Grade 11 both received third prize. They demonstrated remarkable achievements in youth science and technology innovation. Ying represented China at the International Science and Engineering Fair in May, showing the school’s talent on a global stage. Sun was recognized as a Shanghai “Future Star of Science and Technology”, and Meng previously won first prize at the Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition.
The Shanghai Popular Science Education Innovation Award is the first comprehensive national science popularization award funded by non-governmental organizations and the first municipal-level award of its kind in Shanghai. It recognizes individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to science education. Past recipients include prominent figures such as Professor Zhang Wenhong, recognized in 2020 for his outstanding contributions to science communication, and Ma Yimin, an outstanding science communication volunteer and student from Shanghai Normal University. Students from our school have consistently earned recognition through the Youth Science Inspiration Award, showing the school’s continued excellence in fostering scientific innovation.
No. 2 High School of ECNU prioritizes science and technology innovation education, fostering a strong scientific research environment and providing students with abundant resources and development opportunities. The school actively encourages student participation in various science and technology innovation activities, cultivating practical skills and a spirit of innovation. These have laid a solid foundation for students’ success in the Shanghai Popular Science Education Innovation Award.
