Pudong Library’s Off-site Circulation Service Point License Granting – Book Donation Ceremony Held Successfully

On March 30th, the license granting & book donation ceremony for Pudong Library’s off-site service point was held at the book bar of the International Division. The event was hosted by Qian Yiling, Vice President of the International Division Student Council.

Seven student representatives and eight leaders and guests attended the ceremony, namely Cao Zhong, Director of Pudong Library, Su Weihong, Deputy Director of Pudong Library, Mr. Xu Jing, President of Great Future Education Group, Mr. Ge Chengyu, Vice President of Great Future Education Group, Meng Xiangping, Vice Principal of No. 2 High School of ECNU, Wang Wei, Director of the International Division, Lai Yin, Deputy Director of the International Division, and Fu Zhenliang, Deputy Director of the International Division.

The ceremony began with a welcoming speech from Wang Wei, Director of the International Division, setting the stage for the event. Ms. Wang expressed gratitude towards Pudong Library for partnering with the International Division to establish the off-site service point, and for delivering 2,000 books to the students in such a short period of time, providing them with an excellent reading environment. She also emphasized on the importance of cherishing reading environment, respecting books, and cultivating lifelong learning skills through reading, encouraging International Division students to become avid readers.

Cao Zhong, Director of Pudong Library, began by extending congratulations to the International Division for becoming an off-site service point, which allows public library resources to be accessible to more people. He then shared the story of the Wright brothers to emphasize on the importance of education, highlighting the need to develop the ability to envision the future from a young age. He further explained that reading is the seed that helps to cultivate this skill.

Representing the students of the International Division, Zhang Yaqiao made it clear that the books delivered would provide healthy spiritual nourishment for the growth and development of the students, and would safeguard the inheritance of knowledge. The off-site service point of Pudong Library is an extension of knowledge, education, and spirituality. Students of the International Division will also fully utilize these books, transforming priceless knowledge into limitless opportunities for the future.

Meng Xiangping, Vice principal of No. 2 High School of ECNU, expressed her gratitude towards Pudong Library for donating 2,000 books to the students of the International Division. She emphasized that reading ability is a primary requirement for improving core literacy and expanding the horizons of high school students, while the establishment of the off-site service point has laid a solid foundation for this. As a public library that has made significant contributions to the cultural development of Pudong, Pudong Library has generously provided endless resources to the International Division, offering more possibilities for its students. In addition, she underscored the significance of integrating effective reading habits into appropriate book management practice, which can create a positive cycle of learning and development.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque for the off-site service point of Pudong Library to the International Division by Cao Zhong, Director of Pudong Library.

Su Weihong, Deputy Director of Pudong Library, donated books to the International Division of No. 2 High School of ECNU.

The ceremony came to a satisfactory end with everyone taking a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

Reading ten thousand books is like traveling ten thousand miles. The establishment of the off-site service point of Pudong Library in collaboration with the International Division of No. 2 High School of ECNU not only provides abundant books for the students, but also has a profound impact on their growth and development. The school is confident that its students will make the most of this opportunity, constantly enhancing their learning abilities and comprehensive qualities through the world of literature.
